I think this has been my favorite costume for these girls…it suits them  - and this ranch – perfectly!  And what better additions to a styled cowgirl session than Dolly the mare and Curly the colt!  Our day of mini sessions was more than just a photo shoot – it was a day of fun, with tractor rides, crafts, homemade chili for dinner, and my favorite – playing with  Curly.  The girls of course were adorable in their matching pink cowgirl outfits and I love to see how their personalities shine through.  And all of the new things they are learning about in school – Enjoy this sneak peek Miss “R.”

It’s been such a pleasure to watch this twinkly-eyed, smiley gal grow the last couple of years. Those baby blues, flowing blond hair and sweet nature always make a great impact on film. You can see some of her past sessions here and here.  And of course these mini sessions were a blast as always – more like a party than a photo shoot!

Two of my favorite girls are starting their very first day of school tomorrow!  I am so excited for them. They have their own teacher and their own little schoolhouse and it’s all just so adorable!  Of course we just had to capture this memory with a little itty bitty shoot to remember this important and special time -this is such a fun time of year for photos! To book your own little back to school session, just call me at (949-478-3147) or email me at vanessa@hondaphotoart.com.

Enjoy your sneak peek girls! And happy first day of school!

Well, technically these portraits were taken before either April or May….spring comes fairly early to Southern California. But the flowers surely were beautiful for this March session at Sage Ranch…The beautiful weather outside to day inspired me to get these posted on my blog tonight. Happy Spring to everyone!

Yet another post from my “Spring Session” with the “Y” Family.  After our oh-so-fun Easter Egg Hunt, we proceeded to have more fun with the bikes and flowers! I’ve always wanted to do a themed shoot with some bicycles and Renee was more than happy to oblige me.  And the Tunnel of Love at Sage Ranch was the perfect spring setting. I hope you all enjoy the delicious spring goodness as much as we did that day!

So, my original plan was to blog these images last Saturday, just before Easter.  Well, that was before my trusty steed, Pax, decided to dump me on my head and shoulder during a (rather eventful) Saturday morning themed photo session (apparently the voluminous folds of my old fashioned riding habit snagging on a bush and flapping a branch under his belly and between his legs was a bit too much for him to take).  So rather than a calm, peaceful, afternoon of photo editing and blogging, I got am all-too-exciting trip in an ambulance to the local hospital’s trauma center and spend the next few days in the hospital with a concussion and dislocated shoulder. Thanks to the trusty trauma surgeons there at Mission Hospital, I can now tell you again what year and month it is and who our current president is.  But that little unplanned trip to the hospital kind of put a kink in my plans of getting lots of client work done this week. After finally being released from the hospital, I still felt the world spinning all around me and found it fairly difficult to even sit up or look at a screen for any length of time.  Thank goodness for some awesome friends, family and even clients – thanks to them I have managed to make it through this week  intact and without my children going insane!  The downside is that I am just now blogging the fun Easter/Spring portrait session that I meant to get up last Saturday.  Well, better late than never they say (and boy do I hope they are right!)  This session resulted in so many fun and fabulous image that I am breaking it into parts  - here is the Easter Egg hunt post. I love this client because she always makes having a photo session fun for her girls – and they always have something to look forward to.  And we’ve made a bit of a tradition out of documenting their annual Easter Egg Hunt in the Tunnel of Love at Sage Ranch in Aguanga (near Temecula). Here goes!

I have some other sessions I really should post before this one from this past week.   But I know mama is anxious to see how some of these turned out. And although I haven’t even made one pass through all of the images from this session (which was really more like 4 sessions rolled into one), a few popped out at me as I was downloading them. Actually, just about all of them that I clicked on had something fun to offer – which doesn’t always happen by the way.   I will have to blog the different elements of this spring session – the Easter Egg Hunt, the bikes and flowers, the canoe on the lake, and the flower fields – later. But for now here is one little glimpse of our lovely afternoon as a whole.  As Annabelle said while happily paddling the canoe, “This is (was) the best day ever!” And it was topped off by a birthday party with the most delicious cake ever – what more could I ask for! Here is the little “sneak peek” I know you’ve been dying for Miss R! More to come later!
