I have had many many clients over the years come to me from out of state and who are staying at the Newport Coast Villas or at Pelican Hill across the way. But this was the first time I was asked to do the session on the property of the villas.  I was a bit unsure about what sort of settings I might be able to work with there, but as it turned out, there were a lot of lovely places to shoot. And this extended family group was so fun and laid back and….funny! They kept me laughing the entire evening, and I didn’t want out time together to end!  I could see that they have great times together. Reminded me of my own family, who also just spent a week here at a beach house in Newport Beach. I love to see the closeness and warmth in family relationships!  

I’ve had so many clients this summer coming from out of town or out of state and visiting at either Pelican Hill or the Marriot Villas in Newport Coast. It’s been great to get to know and shoot on both of those properties. Pelican hill had a lovely area to shoot at, and we were able to get this family’s portraits done in a matter of minutes – quite possibly the shortest and easiest family portrait session I have ever done.  Thanks for sharing your morning with me!  Enjoy your sneak peek!

I’ve had a lot of fun photographing this family over the years… at Tewinkle Park, at Laguna Beach, at Strawberry Farms in Irvine and now at their local park in Newport Coast.  Each year has been fun and unique in it’s own way – but what made this year so fun was the new addition of a puppy! There’s just something about kids and puppies that will make any heart melt!   They are so fun to watch together, and this was no exception.  I love these kids and hope to see them again soon – hopefully with their beloved dog! I think it was 2 years ago that I took nearly identical portraits of all of the same family members at the same place – the lovely home of Naomi who lives  near Corona Del Mar in Newport Beach.  It was fun to see how some of their families have expanded a bit (love your new baby Gisela and Jim – he was super adorable!) I could go on, but it’s super late so I will just jump straight to the pics!

I spent a lovely morning with this charming family who were staying from all over the country at Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Coast.  Got some family portraits, and some head shots and a few candids as well.  Was probably my easiest portrait session in a while!  Enjoy your sneak peek “F” family!

This family gathered for the wonderful occasion of grandma’s 90th birthday – what an amazing milestone to celebrate!  The only time everyone could get together with me was mid-morning, which makes for some challenging lighting situations, but we decided to meet at Irvine Terrace Park, which was very close to Grandma’s home, and had some lovely trees to provide shade.  I guess I had certain expectations going into this session of how it would be – in the past when I have shot portraits for 90th birthday celebrations, the group has wanted fairly basic, formal poses.  This group had me falling down laughing they were so hilarious, and they were up for anything!  The kids even made up some story about being engaged and wanting to document their passion for soccer when approached by a friendly local police officer wondering what they were doing hanging from the soccer goals… it was pretty convincing.  I’m going to post some of the more traditional poses – and maybe the hilarious one in another post!  Enjoy your sneak peak, and a huge congrats to Grandma for making it to 90 years old – many happy returns!

I first met “N” and “H”  4 years ago when my little Kate was in preschool with them!  That was such a fun and memorable class!  This was my 3rd year taking their portraits for their annual holiday card, and I couldn’t believe how much they had grown when I saw them!  We had a quick and easy session at Roger’s Gardens in Newport Beach, CA.

I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful evening, and more perfect location, or a more fun family for this session!  This was another family that came back to visit Sunny Southern California this summer and have their beach portraits taken by me again!  I am so lucky!  We had a great time last year, and an even better time together this year!  It is so much fun to see my repeat clients year after year and see how the kids have grown and how everyone is doing!  And I so look forward to next year as well! I met Hallee and her sister on a warm summer evening as they were down visiting their grandmother in Huntington Beach.  Hallee wanted some beach portraits for her Senior Portraits, and she couldn’t have picked a better place than the Balboa Pier at Newport Beach.  It was a beautiful day, and Hallee’s natural beauty shone through as the evening wore on.  We snuck in a few with her grandma and sister as well.  I was so impressed with both girls and had a great time getting to know them!  Enjoy your sneak peak!
