Ok, well maybe he isn’t mine…but I sure was wishing he was the day I came over to take his portraits. I was super excited to meet this little guy after taking his mom’s maternity portraits, seen HERE.  And he lived up to all of my (rather high) expectations!  He wasn’t the sleepiest baby ever, but he was so well behaved, awake and asleep.  His mom really wanted to get a shot of him with his dad’s police uniform hat…and that was the toughest part. Once that was out of the way it was pretty much smooth sailing!  And I so appreciate his parent’s patience as his was my last sesssion before I got married (only a couple of days before) and then I had a wedding and a honeymoon and am just now getting caught up with all of my client work!  So finally, at last, here is your sneak peek of your precious little guy – just in time for Mother’s Day!

When one of my favorite clients called up to see about having her husband’s daughters photographed over Thanksgiving, I was delighted! I have photographed Morgan before and it was so much fun! And even Ron (the dad) is a pretty good sport about pictures! We took them at the Lab (Anti-mall) in Costa Mesa. I thought I had blogged them a long time ago, but was looking for their post and couldn’t find it. So this isn’t really a sneak peek seeing as they now have their prints and everything ordered, but hey – better late than never, right?! Enjoy!

What do you get when you cross a gorgeous Shih Tzu with and adorable Yorkshire Terrier (Yorkie)? You get a Shorkie!  And that’s just what I had the pleasure of photographing the week of Christmas!  She’s pretty darn cute, wouldn’t you say? And the best behaved pet subject to come my way in quite some time to boot!

I have always loved animals – so much so that I always thought I would be a veterinarian when I grew up as a child. I even majored in pre-vet and then Veterinary Technology in college, graduating with a BS in Animal Science.  I took nary a photography class! But working at a vet clinic didn’t exactly mesh with my goals of staying home with my children, and photography allowed that. But I still love to work with animals every chance I can get! Usually pets are more challenging even than little children, with shorter attentions spans and not as easy to reason with. They keep me on my toes!  But every once in a while I have a pet session where everyone is listening, and everyone is photogenic…and I get more great shots than I know what to do with. This was one of those sessions.  All three of these dogs were gorgeous and so well behaved! And their people were super cooperative and photogenic as well. I couldn’t ask for more! Enjoy your sneak peek just in time for Christmas!

..That’s what little boys are made of !  And this little boy was all boy! It was a very documentary style session – mostly following little “D” around as he chased the sun, played with sticks, dug in the dirt, brandished a cat tail, and loved on his dad.  I’m lucky I’ve got some quick shutter speeds, because 1/500th of a second was about all I had to capture any of the poses I put him in. But that’s ok, because often it’s these “real life” candids that I love the best, and we had a whole entire session of those!  And to adorable little “D” it was just a fun adventure down by the Back Bay in Newport Beach, and that’s great, because hopefully he’ll look forward to pictures next time!  You can check out his photos from last year here on the blog as well! Enjoy your sneak peek!

Had a great time taking holiday photos for Thinc – a fabulous local business here in Newport Beach – on Balboa Island.  We decided to keep it really local and festive – shooting at the Balboa Island Fire Station late one evening!  We had just a few minutes of light left by the time we finally got started shooting (I won’t mention who forgot their shoes and had to go back for them!) but we still got some really great and fun shots!  Will be working on designing the holiday card shortly!

I snagged a few fun snapshots of these beautiful cats in their Newport Beach home while on another assignment. I just couldn’t help myself! I love kitties! And these guys were both cooperative and photogenic.  I couldn’t ask for more!

I knew this would be an interesting shoot when I got the call….come take photos for a book. A book produced by IGC of their team members in their own working environments.  So I got to see what Ian does, which  looks a lot to me like playing with diamonds all day! What a fun job! Oh, and while I was there, I got to take some photos of their cats! But we’ll introduce them soon. This post is all about Ian (with one or two shots of his lovely wife Cynthia), doing what they do best from their home in Newport Beach!

Well, this wasn’t exactly a full session or anything…nor was it planned. It was more like I was hanging in the grassy area out front with my kids and my camera and my dear neighbor came home with her 6 year old daughter and 8 month old son, and he was looking just so adorable and happy I said, “set him down on the grass and let me get a few snapshots of your cute kid.” The resulting images are priceless. Isn’t he a cutie? And my neighbor Terra does so many nice things for me… I wanted to give a little something to her for her birthday today. So you go Terra – happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy this little sneak peek of your amazing little guy!

I have had many many clients over the years come to me from out of state and who are staying at the Newport Coast Villas or at Pelican Hill across the way. But this was the first time I was asked to do the session on the property of the villas.  I was a bit unsure about what sort of settings I might be able to work with there, but as it turned out, there were a lot of lovely places to shoot. And this extended family group was so fun and laid back and….funny! They kept me laughing the entire evening, and I didn’t want out time together to end!  I could see that they have great times together. Reminded me of my own family, who also just spent a week here at a beach house in Newport Beach. I love to see the closeness and warmth in family relationships!
